The Townsend Police Department is kicking off Autism Acceptance Month with a special event for the community: a Sensory-Friendly Open House.
Families are invited to join department members at the police station, 70 Brookline St., for a sensory-friendly tour and an opportunity to get to know local public safety officials. The event will take place on Saturday, April 5, from 12-6 p.m.
To reduce overstimulation, 30-minute tours will be scheduled for one family at a time. During the tour, guests will get to explore the station, check out a cruiser and ask any questions about the department they may have. Tours can be personalized to accommodate any sensory challenges a child may experience.
To schedule a tour, please reach out to Record Administrator Jessica Demeo at jdemeo@townsendpd.org or 978-597-6214 ext. 301.
