TOWNSEND — Police Chief Erving Marshall reports that the Townsend Police Department arrested a male juvenile in connection with an incident at the high school today.
The juvenile is charged with making Threats of a Weapon in the School and Disruption of a School Assembly. He will be arraigned tomorrow at the Lowell Juvenile Court.
On Thursday, at approximately 1 p.m., administrators at the North Middlesex Regional High School notified the Police Department about verbal threats to harm people with a weapon at the school.
With information supplied by school administration, Townsend Police activated the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, which called upon the School Threat Assessment and Response System (S.T.A.R.S.) and Pepperell, Groton, and Ashby police departments for assistance.
Upon arrival at the school, Townsend police officers found the male juvenile in the administration’s custody. He was immediately placed under arrest.
Officers secured the building. No weapons were found.
The incident remains under investigation.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
